Privacy Policy

1. Who We Are

Padre is a Christian men's coaching app operated by Paxborne Digital Ltd, a company registered in the United Kingdom. Paxborne Digital Ltd is the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. Contact: hello@usepadre.com

2. What Data We Collect

We collect the following information when you use Padre:

• Account information — name, email address, password (encrypted)
• Onboarding answers — training preferences, goals, denomination, discipline level
• Training data — your programme, exercise logs, progress
• Habit data — your habits and completion logs
• Journal entries — scripture reflections and notes
• Coaching conversations — messages sent to the Padre AI
• Spiritual life data — confession dates, examen entries, struggles and prayer intentions you choose to log
• Activity data — steps and exercise minutes from Apple Health or Google Fit, only if you grant permission (you can revoke this at any time in your device settings)
• Device data — a push notification token if you enable notifications
• Subscription status — whether you have an active subscription; payment details are handled entirely by Apple, Google or Stripe and never reach our servers
• Usage data — which features you use and when, so we can see where the app is working and where it is not. We record that an action happened, never what you wrote: for example that you completed an Examen, not what you reflected on; that you logged a struggle, not what it was. We do not use session recording, and we do not record your name or email in our analytics.

2a. Special Category Data

Because Padre is a Christian coaching app, some of the data you share reveals your religious beliefs, and activity data relates to your health. Under UK GDPR these are special category data.

We process this data only with your explicit consent, given when you create your account and use these features, and solely to provide the coaching experience described in this policy. You can withdraw consent at any time by deleting the relevant data or your account.

3. How We Use Your Data

Your data is used to:

• Provide and personalise the Padre coaching experience
• Generate your training programme and habit suggestions
• Power the AI coaching conversations
• Send account-related emails (signup, password reset)
• Improve the app and fix issues

We do not sell your personal data. We do not use your data for advertising.

4. AI Processing

Padre uses Anthropic's Claude AI to power coaching conversations, programme generation and the reflective features. To generate a response, the relevant content is sent to Anthropic's API. Depending on the feature you use, this can include:

• Messages you send to the Padre AI, and your recent conversation history
• Your training programme, exercise logs and workout feedback
• Your habits and completion history
• What you write in the struggle log, the examen, and discernment
• Your daily check-ins, including mood and gratitude notes
• Your goals, training profile, denomination and chosen coaching tone
• Step count and exercise minutes read from Apple Health or Health Connect, where you have granted permission and a habit depends on them

Anthropic processes this data on our behalf as a processor, and does not use it to train its models. Anthropic's processing is governed by their commercial terms.

International transfer. Anthropic processes data on servers in the United States. Where we transfer your personal data outside the UK or EEA, we rely on the UK International Data Transfer Addendum and the EU Standard Contractual Clauses as the safeguard for that transfer.

Your confession preparation is handled differently: the questions you tick during an examination of conscience stay on your device and are never sent to us or to Anthropic. Only the date you record a confession is stored.

4a. How Padre Learns About You

Over time, Padre remembers things you share — such as your struggles, goals, family situation, or progress — so that future coaching conversations feel personal and consistent rather than starting from scratch every time.

These memories are stored securely in your account and are only accessible to you and the Padre AI when coaching you. They are never shared with third parties.

• Memories are saved automatically when Padre learns something relevant about you
• Memories are deleted when you delete a coaching conversation
• You can clear all of Padre's memory at any time from the Settings → Privacy screen
• Deleting your account permanently deletes all memories

You remain in full control of what Padre remembers about you.

4b. Analytics and Error Reporting

We use PostHog, hosted in the European Union, to understand which parts of Padre are used and where people get stuck, and Sentry to be told when something in the app breaks.

Both are configured restrictively on purpose, because of what this app holds:

• Automatic capture of what you type or tap is switched off
• Session recording is switched off entirely
• Analytics events carry counts and categories only — never the content of a struggle log, journal entry, prayer, or examination of conscience
• Error reports have request bodies, cookies and query strings stripped before they are sent
• We do not send your name or email address to either service

We do not use advertising or marketing trackers anywhere in Padre, and we do not sell your data to anyone, ever.

5. Data Storage

Your data is stored securely using Supabase, hosted on AWS infrastructure in the EU (Ireland). All data is encrypted in transit and at rest.

6. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

• Supabase — database and authentication
• Anthropic (Claude) — AI coaching
• Resend — transactional email
• Vercel — app hosting
• Apple App Store / Google Play — in-app subscription payments
• RevenueCat — subscription management (receives an anonymous user ID and purchase status, never your card details)
• Stripe — web subscription payments
• Apple / Google push services — delivering notifications you opt in to

7. Affiliate Links

Padre participates in affiliate programmes (including Amazon Associates and Awin). When you click an affiliate link, the retailer may set cookies. We do not receive or store any personal data from these purchases.

8. Your Rights (UK GDPR)

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your data
• Object to processing of your data
• Data portability

To exercise any of these rights, email hello@usepadre.com. You can also delete your account directly from the Settings screen, which permanently deletes all your data.

9. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all personal data is permanently deleted within 30 days.

10. Cookies

Padre uses essential session cookies for authentication. We do not use tracking or advertising cookies.
